Retaining Walls · Bloomington, MN
Interlocking retaining walls: structure and style in one.
A retaining wall is an engineering problem wearing a landscape hat. We build interlocking segmental walls that hold back soil for decades and look like they were always part of the property.

Why it lasts
What you get with Crosstown
Better than railroad ties
Timber rots, leans and eventually fails — usually right after the warranty on whoever installed it. Concrete units don't rot, don't leach creosote and don't move.
Better than poured concrete
A rigid poured wall has one option when the ground moves: crack. Segmental walls flex at every joint and can be re-leveled if the grade shifts.
Real drainage behind the wall
Drain tile, clean washed rock and geogrid reinforcement where the height calls for it. Hydrostatic pressure is what topples walls — we give the water somewhere to go.
Structure that looks designed
Tiered walls, curves, integrated steps, seat walls, caps and column lighting so the wall solves the grade and finishes the yard.
Every wall starts with an excavated, compacted leveling pad below grade — get the first course wrong and nothing above it is right. From there we set batter (the backward lean into the hill), install geogrid at the specified intervals, backfill with free-draining aggregate and run drain tile to daylight.
We build garden walls, terraced slopes, driveway edges, walkout-basement grade changes and full patio seat-wall systems. For taller walls we'll tell you honestly when a permit or an engineer's stamp is required — Bloomington and most metro cities have thresholds, and we won't build around them.
The result is a wall that carries load quietly for decades and ties into your patio, steps and plantings instead of fighting them.
“Wow... just wow! From start to finish they exceeded our expectations... If I could give Crosstown a 10 star rating, I would do so without hesitation!”
