Stone Work · Bloomington, MN
Natural stone, hand-fit by people who've done it for decades.
Patios, pathways and feature walls in natural stone — bluestone, limestone, granite and Minnesota fieldstone, cut and fit on site.

Why it lasts
What you get with Crosstown
Stone patios
Full-color flagstone and dimensional bluestone set on a compacted base or mortared over slab, with tight, hand-cut joints.
Pathways & steppers
Irregular steppers through plantings, formal cut-stone walks, and stone treads that turn a slope into an invitation.
Feature walls
Dry-stack and mortared fieldstone accent walls, pillars, seat walls and outdoor fireplaces that anchor the whole yard.
One of a kind, by definition
No two stones are alike, so no two projects are. Every piece is chosen and cut for its spot.
Stone work is the slowest thing we do, and that's the point. A good stone mason spends as much time choosing and cutting as setting — matching thickness, reading grain, keeping joints consistent across an entire terrace.
We build on the same foundation discipline as our paver work: excavation, compacted base, drainage and proper edge detail. On mortared installations we use freeze-thaw-rated setting materials, because Minnesota is unforgiving of shortcuts in a mortar joint.
The result is a surface with real depth and variation that gets better with age — the kind of work people still ask about twenty years later.
“I don't think I've worked with a contractor in the last 50 years that has been as honest, knowledgeable, creative, and flexible as him.”
